I have been trying to get traffic to my website www.youryachtgroup.com. I have tried stumbleupon with varying results. Many of the forums and blogs that I have looked at do not allow commercial links.
Does anyone have any ideas where else I could promote this site?
You need to visit niche communities about yachting, sailing & anything else related to those areas.
First of all, you could try this social network for people that like boating: http://www.theboaters.com/ Create a profile, write some stories and engage with people. Join groups, make friends and naturally people will visit your profile and take a look at your site. DON’T just spam, make tonnes of friend requests and get booted off the site!! Actually engage and be part of the community.
Next, you could try doing the same on any of the travel networks on this page (see rrriiiight at the bottom of the list!) http://socialmediaanswers.com/niche-social-networking-sites/ Anybody looking to travel by boat? Or buy a boat to travel on? You can make suggestions, recommendations and share your expertise.
Think the more you participate in these communities, the more you establish yourself as an expert and the MORE you point links back to your profile, which will contain your website URL too. GREAT for SEO.
Finally, my blog post shows how to find out niche communities on Google (e.g. yacht and boat communities) just click here: http://www.supercarly.co.uk/384/how-to-find-niche-communities/
Hope these tips help

You are looking for a few visitors, with loads of money, who want to buy a boat. Are you likely to find them on stumbleupon, forums or blogs? Look at this site http://www.boatinternational.com/
I would have thought you need to get somewhere near them on Google.

raysor offers a great suggestion.
Have you tried classified? usafreeads or craigslist?
Maybe some PPC campaigns?
You could write articles and submit them – to build up backlinks …
